Description

The Back office Corporate Actions Department services specific clients for both mandatory and voluntary corporate action events. This team deals directly with the clients and with other custodian banks (in addition to Bank of New York Mellon) where clients hold/custody their assets. The group is responsible for managing and controlling high levels of risk and liability inherent in the various functions. The incumbent is responsible for processing both mandatory and voluntary specific corporate actions functions related to international and US securities held (regardless of custodian) for specific Bank of New York Mellon back office clients. S/He is responsible for handling moderately intricate to extremely complex corporate action events for multiple back office clients. Processing responsibilities include the receipt of custodian announcements, the scrubbing/comparison of data, and the notification of corporate action events to a specific client. S/he reconciles client positions with multiple custodians and monitors appropriate posting of accruals and entitlements to client accounts. For all voluntary events, s/he is responsible for soliciting and receiving responses from the clients and for submitting these instructions to the various custodians prior to their deadline dates. S/he will work on multiple Bank of New York Mellon systems, as well as other custodian proprietary online systems, to perform these functions. The incumbent is responsible for adhering to established quality control measures and procedures. S/He will interact daily with clients, non- Bank of New York Mellon custodians, agents, and other internal Bank of New York Mellon business groups including the corporate actions custody and accounting teams. S/He will provide the first level training for new specialists and will assist specialists in handling inquiries. Additionally, s/he will participate in department projects such as identifying system or processing enhancements and off hours system testing. Additionally, s/he may meet directly with the client.

Qualifications

The qualified candidate will possess a BS/BA degree or the equivalent of 2-3 years work experience in financial services operations with a minimum of 1 year Corporate Action experience. S/He must be detail oriented, organized, and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced, deadline driven, high-risk environment. Customer service orientation is a must with excellent writing and verbal communication skills. Ability to exhibit patience in teaching procedures to new associates is essential. Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) is required
