California Sales Manager

This manufacturer of processed beef, pork, chicken, turkey, and poultry products is seeking a California Sales Representative to work out of its Southern California office. Using relationship-building skills, industry knowledge, technical savvy, and creativity in a customer focused and efficiency driven environment you will work closely with food scientists as well as peers in RD, Marketing, Logistics and Manufacturing/QA in developing new products and applications for clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop new business opportunities, utilizing our current production capabilities, which allow us to leverage our location to better serve the customer base and maximize utilization of the West coast manufacturing facility. 

Assist with developing a marketing plan, sales strategy and tracking matrix to best utilize the available resources.

Interface with RD, marketing, manufacturing, logistics, purchasing and distribution to ensure existing and new products development to meet and/or exceed customer expectations.

Develop and execute respective, national, distributor, regional chain and key operator account business plans as they relate to company’s;  current volume goals, strategies, focus categories and budgetary restraints to achieve established sales plans.

Establish existing and new customer conversion and volume targets against key corporate initiatives that focus on delivering greater EBITDA for the organization and track performance against these established goals on a monthly basis.

Participates in new product plant trials and/or launches as well as weekly sales meetings

Achieve targeted sales volume, new distribution, EBITDA and established sales management goals on a monthly and annual basis.

The company was founded in 1946, has production facilities in Los Angeles as well as on the East coast. The company offers sliced/diced/stripped and fresh/cooked/frozen products to foodservice chains and packaged food manufacturers in the United States. This is a strong-growth oriented industry with positive economic indicators for the future. You will manage and grow a multi-state territory in the West Coast, calling on food processors, food services accounts and food providers for industrial applications.

Career History Requirements

·         Must have five to seven + year’s experience in meat processing/manufacturing with three to five years of strong technical (QC RD) background.  

·         Senior level sales experience is preferable – Regional Manager or District level position acceptable

·         Require extensive experience interfacing with clients and management in the food service business (Protein products preferred) and must be able to prove industry relationships with manufacturers, food service companies, brokers as well as knowledge of industry and culinary trends for specific distribution channels.

·         Candidates must be amenable to 60 to 70% travel

·         Possess a Bachelor’s Degree with a Master’s Degree a plus.
