Opportunity

MG are looking to recruit one person to fill the position of Custom Application Development (CAD) Rapid Application Development (RAD) Architect working within the IS Strategy Architecture Team of 8 people. The team are currently responsible for the architecture and future strategy for the systems and data at MG. The successful candidate will drive the future direction of our CAD and RAD teams. This will cover the different Microsoft technologies significantly .NET, Office and SQL. The successful candidate would be the design authority for our .NET application estate.

We have significant demand in the area for growth and the successful candidate will be expected to shape the future direction of the systems to accommodate that growth.

Key responsibilities

* Agree set future direction of CAD and RAD platform.

* Perform design authority function on CAD and RAD solutions.

* Work together with other IS and Business Change (BC) teams on project and strategy delivery, especially the other architects in Strategy Architecture and Business Solutions.

* Advise and support the head of CAD and RAD, who deliver the solutions, on project and strategy delivery.

* Produce and publish Guidelines, Principles, and Standards for CAD and RAD in MG.

* Research the market and attend conferences in the development of future strategies.

* Help in the consistent application of the strategy within project deliveries.

What we are looking for

Essential

* Large application delivery experience

* Strong .NET Development skills

* MS SQL Server

* Strong XML skills

* Relationship Development

* SQL (inc stored procedures)

* Communication with business users and technologists

* Application design models (OO, MVC, MVVM, etc)

* Use of services (SOAP and restful)

* Strong MS Office, VBA and VSTO development skills

Desirable

* MS Office application development

* ORACLE

* Use of .NET Frameworks (eg CSLA)

* Understanding of DNS, AD, Windows Server, Exchange

* Business knowledge of Investment Management and its data

Other

* Intranet development

* Development tools (source control, deployment, application development lifecycle)
