Major Function: Support the growth and maintain the global health of Mercury Marine’s products and platforms. Help lead, guide and influence product planning, marketing, business case development, product line management, and new product development related to the product category. Assist internal departments to develop and implement strategies to support communications, promotions and information management. Initiatives will culminate in increased product line efficiency, external market growth and increased financial contributions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead critical business analysis on key strategic marine issues (competitive strategy, partnership strategy, product strategy, parent product pricing, and distribution strategy)
  • Support new product development and design change initiatives driven by market demand, government regulations and/or cost reduction activity
  • Facilitate business case/charter development for new product programs and provide direction for the development and growth of the category
  • Help with the development, planning and implementation of product plans, with a primary focus on in-line, lifecycle and new engine product management for maximized category growth and brand health
  • Analyze competitive research and trends to guide category strategy and programs relative to product and program innovation
  • Support cost reduction, quality improvement and VOC projects to drive product plan initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal PDE staff, marketing and sales leaders, dealers, customers and external strategic business partners to develop product strategies and plans
  • Present category strategic initiatives to senior leadership and program teams
  • Lead and influence cross-functional teams on strategic category issues, processes and initiatives

  • Verbal and written skills necessary to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to summarize details and present recommendations to senior management
  • Organizational skills necessary to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent quantitative/qualitative skills; high agility in performing quantitative analysis as well as using strategic frameworks.
  • Ability to support and lead project teams, work cross-functionally and think both critically and strategically.
  • Education and Experience Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Business or a Technical field
  • The candidate must have a track record of outstanding success relative to peers and should have demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Experience using strategic frameworks and analysis, and in modeling abstract and ambiguous business problems.
