Founded in 1994, CFRA provides the industry’s leading global forensic accounting research suite, designed to support the investing and underwriting needs of institutional investors. Through our proven research methodologies, our team of analysts assesses accounting and financial risk at a company and industry level, providing expert advice that clients can use in the investment decision-making process. CFRA is part of MSCI, Inc., a leader in tools and services for the financial sector.

CFRA research analysts conduct and publish forensic financial statement analysis equity research on publicly traded and private companies in the financial sector for dissemination to a client base which includes institutional investors, underwriters, regulators, and law practices. The role involves frequent client interaction. Research and analysis will be a combination of qualitative and quantitative research which ultimately leads to published or custom client research. This includes gathering and interpreting macroeconomic and sector specific data, and most importantly financial statements, as the analyst develops and produces specific industry and company reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Rigorous analysis of public company financial data, news and other information to identify the varied risks facing companies in the financial sector

• Publish high-impact reports to be delivered to investment managers, insurance underwriters, regulators, law firms and others detailing our research findings

• Communicate with clients regarding companies analyzed, industry issues or accounting topics of interest

• Collaborate with other members of industry sector teams and support senior analysts to develop research ideas

• Perform custom research projects for top customers

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2+ years in finance or accounting discipline. Strong background in financial statement analysis.

• CFA, CPA and/or MBA (or demonstrated progress towards) preferred

• Strong knowledge of financial markets and participants

• Superior written and oral communication skills, and ability to work well within a team environment

• Strong interest in researching companies in the financial sector (banks, insurance companies, REITs)

• Prior research experience is desirable
