This position reports into the Office of the President and is responsible for a strategic line of business as defined by: A global reach with a large, geographically-dispersed staff presence, a business that generates a significant portion of the organization's revenue, a market environment that regularly experiences high-volatility, high-complexity and/or rapid change. This role is a managerial role with oversight of the Global Client Management (GCM) CAO and Global Strategic Sales (GSS) Groups. Incumbent accomplishes results through the application of technical expertise and the efficient management of staff.

1. Oversee and manage the administrative, operational and/or financial affairs of GCM. Represent senior officials both within and outside the organization. Act as project manager on specific far-reaching initiatives. Conduct financial, market, organizational research as needed to help define functional goals and opportunities.

2. Advise the executive on policy, procedural and operational issues. Provide direct support to the top GCM executive on all issues. Interpret company policy to employees and enforce company policy and practices. Oversee compliance activities across GCM and advise the executive on potential legal, regulatory or compliance risks. Formulate, recommend, and review policies and procedures within GCM.

3. Manage GCM human resource activities including staff planning, recruiting, retention, salary administration and terminations. Provide advice and guidance to line managers on managing employee performance and professional development. Guide the GCM strategic planning process.

4. Manage the GCM operating budget management; assist in the development of the operating plan. Prepare, present, and interpret major reports and/or communications.

5. Oversee technology initiatives affecting GCM; manage IT or other capital resource allocations for GCM

6. Counsel executives and provides direction/support on GCM-wide activities, initiatives, and issues. Advise GCM leadership and staff on administrative changes and executive's schedule. Assess existing operating standards to identify opportunities for process improvements and best practice adoption across GCM. In conjunction with the management team, identify opportunities to shift administrative processes and change workflows to maximize revenue-generating activities.

Incumbent should possess in-depth, cross-functional experience in human resource planning, finance, accounting, and MIS. Incumbent must have demonstrated professional experience in business analysis and project management. Incumbent must have expert understanding of how business units integrate within BNYM as well as how each area contributes to the objectives of GCM and BNYM. Incumbent should have expert knowledge of BNYM lines of business, key business processes and supporting systems and strive to maintain current knowledge of industry best practices.

Incumbent must possess expert analytical skills. Incumbent is responsible for advanced problem solving and must filter, prioritize, analyze and validate information. Incumbent applies expertise to solve challenging problems.

Through this role, the incumbent has a very large, direct impact on the strategic direction and results of BNYM by providing technical expertise and advice to top executives and monitoring GCM performance on behalf of leadership to ensure efficiency, profitability and customer satisfaction.

Incumbent must possess superior communication skills in order to manage projects and initiatives across GCM. Incumbent must convey authority and expertise to effectively direct peers on behalf of leadership. Incumbent is expected to be an adept communicator, at ease with consensus-building, negotiation and persuasion and able to leverage relationships across the organization. In carrying out the work of GCM, incumbent will have frequent interaction with peer management as well as organization senior leadership.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor's degree and an advanced degree are preferred. 15 years of related experience is required; progressive experience within the business unit that the position supports is preferred.
