CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
SOUTH SHORE ELDER SERVICES, INC.

ORGANIZATION: The Board of Directors of South Shore Elder Services, Inc. (SSES)
is seeking an experienced leader to serve as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Founded in
1977, SSES is a private, non-profit corporation designated as the “Aging Services Access
Point” and “Area Agency on Aging” through the Executive Office of Elder Affairs. The
annual budget of nearly $15 million comes primarily from State and Federal government
sources. There is a staff of 100 and a corps of more than 500 volunteers. Based in
Braintree, SSES provides advocacy and supportive services to elders, persons with
disabilities and caregivers.

Programs and services include, but are not limited to: information and referral, care
management, home care, health education and screening, home delivered and congregate
meals, advocacy services, protective services, long term care ombudsman, options
counseling and caregiver services.

BASIC JOB FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the CEO is
the Chief Administration Officer of the Corporation and is responsible for the overall
management and operation of the organization and the protection of the organization’s
financial assets, while ensuring compliance with Board directives, as well as federal and
state requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The CEO has the responsibility for administering all programs
and functions of the agency. Oversees the management of agency functions, including budget
preparation; grant preparation, provider and grant monitoring, wage and personnel policies;
Serves on the Board’s negotiating team during Union negotiations. Functions as principal
liaison between the Board of Directors, Advisory Council, staff and the Executive Office
of Elder Affairs. Promotes positive image of agency through community relations; including
public speaking and participating in community groups.

QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree preferred (MBA, MSW, MPA, MPH) with at
least 10 years experience in human services field; 5 years senior management level
experience in human services field required; knowledge of elder care and long term care
system; commitment to working with elders and their caregivers. Experience in program
development; personnel and financial management; strategic planning and community
relations.
