An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced person to manage the activities of the Institute of Foresters of Australia (IFA). The Institute is a professional body with over 1200 members, whose mission is to provide leadership to the forestry profession and advice to the community on forestry issues. The Chief Executive Officer reports to the Board, acts as Company Secretary and manages the Institute’s National Office in Canberra to deliver a wide range of membership services.
Applicants should demonstrate the following qualities:
· Possession of tertiary qualifications appropriate to the responsibilities of the position or relevant experience,
· Demonstrated high level organisational, administrative and financial management skills and the ability to manage staff and work with professional volunteers,
· Experience in Corporate Governance and Tax Compliance,
· Clear understanding of Information Technologies and their practical application,
· Demonstrated ability to establish standards, guidelines and principles in relation to the responsibilities of the positions,
· High level communication, publishing and public relations skills,
· Ability to interpret strategic direction into tangible outputs,
· Ability to work autonomously within a small office environment.
The following qualities would be desirable but are not essential:
· Previous experience in a non-profit and/or professional association,
· An understanding of forestry and environmental management.
