SPECIFICATION
The successful candidate must have over ten years hands-on experience in building private client portfolios through a multi-asset class model. A background in private client wealth management would be invaluable given the focus on retail customers, with experience in advising both domestic and international clients. Your client acquisition strategy will be direct referrals from the associated IFA business, and other intermediary firms.
The successful candidate will:-
- Be qualified to CFA standard with IMC, MSI Diploma. The SII Masters in Wealth Management will also be considered.
- Be able to demonstrate compliance with RDR requisites.
- Be able to demonstrate a successful performance track record, with an individual style.
- Have established technological skills and be advanced in the knowledge of Bloomberg, along with experience in using portfolio modelling tools.
- Possess strong Microsoft Office skills.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The CIO will be responsible for leading the investment management function, heading up the investment committee and driving the investment strategy. The business also offers an advisory service to its clients, which again, you would be expected to lead. This will require buy, sell and hold lists to be prepared and maintained for the advisory and discretionary services, and updated quarterly. The focus will be to support the IFA’s within the business by pitching to new corporate and individual clients.
The CIO will build and lead the investment management team to support the demands of the IFAs and the multiple platforms used to support the retail clients. It is expected that you will develop scalable business processes that will aid the identification and monitoring of portfolio holdings. You will develop and maintain a number of model portfolios via various platforms in order to service different client segments.
The CIO will be expected to hold and contribute to regular investment meetings in order to facilitate the process of acquiring referrals from the IFA sales team and joint venture practices and in addition, attend and contribute to regular Board meetings, and present evidenced information on performance to the Board.
The CIO is a key position and crucial to the long term development of the discretionary wealth management business, and the compensation package will reflect this in terms of basic salary and benefits. There will be the opportunity to earn bonuses in return for meeting and exceeding targets and corporate goals. After proven success and ability in the role, there is also the opportunity to discuss an equity stake in the business.
