Position Description:
SunGard provides solutions for the insurance industry in each of
the following major business lines: life and health, annuities and
pensions, property and casualty, reinsurance and asset management.
SunGard's software and services support functions from the
front-office through the back-office, from customer service, policy
administration and actuarial calculations to financial and
investment accounting and reporting.

business and our product called Prophet. Prophet is a leading
risk management platform used by the financial services industry
around the world to model companies' financial business. Prophet's
enterprise architecture provides the power and performance for
models to run in a secure and controlled environment and fits in
with companies' end-to-end infrastructure to produce management
information required by decision-makers
Job Description:
- Manage the overall operations across multiple functions of the
Risk Management business to ensure attainment of aggressive
financial and operational goals within the business unit - Be accountable for finance, budget management, contract
negotiations, compliance, product development, people management
and setting strategic direction. - Mentor Key Managers
- Develop and/or document operating procedures
- Identify opportunities and develop action plans
- Oversee technology, product development, and supervisory
management team - Develop and manage "Executive Dashboard" of key business
statistics - Provide strategic leadership of core business
- Business development
Responsibilities will include:
- Establish and manage budgets, set short- and long-range
objectives, set strategy for the business unit and establish the
criteria for monitoring progress and measuring success. - Operate as an Ambassador of the Segment and wider business and
as such ensure adhere to company standards, guidance and
policies. - Manage the finances of the Business Unit and understand and
manage the many financial procedures within the Business and ensure
financial adherence to the company and financial standards of the
business. - Be responsible for people management and morale within the
Business Unit through the selection, management and development of
the management teams managing others across the business unit. - take responsibility and ownership of client satisfaction, i.e.
implementation of SunGard solutions, including achieving consistent
reference-ability in the region and across solutions - Support and assist the Segment strategy to drive the vision of
one standard, including brand, image and processes. - Report to the Segment President and be a member of the Segment
Executive team and will contribute to Segment policy, strategy and
supporting divisional initiatives.
Position Requirements:
Essential Skills:
- Experience of operating as a COO or similar level role
- Experience of managing a Business Unit, including financial
responsibility - Insurance experience either gained by working directly for an
Insurance firm, or as a supplier to the Insurance services
industry - Understanding of IT / Product lifecycles and the provision of
IT Services - English language skills (written and verbal)
Desirable Skills
- Specific experience in actuarial systems
- Working knowledge and experience of large complex IT
projects - Actuary knowledge
