Chief Risk Office for Surplus Lines Pool recruitment

* Work closely with senior management of Surplus Lines Pool to implement the Chartis Risk Management Framework
* Work closely with senior management of Surplus Lines Pool and all available risk management resources to develop and implement processes and tools to:
- identify and assess all sources of risk including insurance (property, casualty, life), market, credit, legal, operational and business risks ensure that the risk profile of the business is managed in such a way to optimize returns and the use of capital in keeping with the risk appetite and risk management guiding principles.
- gather, maintain and analyze internal and external data to support risk analysis, control and reporting
- deliver information/tools to help businesses compete more effectively (e.g., portfolio risk metrics, portfolio optimization, decision-support tools)
- set and monitor risk appetite/limits
- deploy capital models and ensure they are used properly for technical pricing, capital management and risk-adjusted performance reporting
* Chair the Surplus Lines Pool Risk Capital Committee and any required Board level Risk Committees
* Work closely with the home office Risk Reporting and Governance team to ensure risk governance is implemented as designed within framework
* Work closely with Internal Audit to develop plans to audit risk controls within the region
* Manage Surplus Lines Pool risk management resources including providing technical training and mentoring on career development.
* Represent ERM as a member of the Surplus Lines Pool executive team
* Develop and provide risk training on appropriate topics to staff within the Surplus Lines Pool

* Minimum 10+ years experience in property/casualty insurance with part of that in the risk management field
* Good knowledge of Surplus Lines Pool lines of business and familiarity with insurance operations in the region
* Proven leadership and ability to effect change
* Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work across multiple areas of the business
* Proven ability to communicate clearly with regulators on a variety of topics affecting the organization
* Technical skills with regard to economic capital, technical pricing, measurement of risk metrics and capital management
* Experience in managing teams including ability to motivate and develop both technical and non-technical staff
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of interdisciplinary teams that may be geographically dispersed
* Ability to motivate and inspire employees to attain goals and objectives.
