Child Psychiatrist- 34 hours/wk Job in Boston, Massachusetts Us

Primary Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Program Director and Medical Director, the Psychiatrist is responsible for the psychiatric treatment of the residents at the program and the day students who are not receiving external psychiatric treatment.

Essential Functions:
*Conduct initial, follow up and emergency psychiatric assessments of the children.
*Provide psychopharmacology assessments on an on-going basis and provide updates on the diagnostic treatment and psychopharmacology to appropriate parties.
*Consult with clinicians weekly to discuss the psychiatric aspects of cases and sit in on clinician/client meetings weekly. Consult with nurses, pediatricians, psychologist and other collaterals regarding treatment, medical issues and medication of children.
*Participate in treatment planning meetings and meet with Clinical Coordinator weekly to discuss treatment issues.
*Provide education on psychiatric methods, diagnosis, and medical treatment to staff.
*Participate in Administration Team meetings, Milieu Meetings, and meet with Program Director on a regular basis. Attend monthly MD meetings.
*Write psychiatric evaluations and documentation of meetings, monitor labs and complete all appropriate paperwork in a timely, well written manner.
*May oversee a program task force such as wellness initiatives and/or exercise initiatives.
*Provide rotating 24 hour on call services.

Education and Experience:
Licensed medical doctor with child psychiatry training. Experience working with residential children helpful.
3 - 5 years experience treating children with complex medical, psychiatric and/or neurological issues.

Physical Requirements:
Standard office work in a residential setting. Computer literate including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer with the ability to learn new software applications.
