National Interstate Insurance Company is currently seeking a Claims Examiner in our Northeast OH Corporate Headquarters.
Summary
Investigate liability and settle claims involving heavy auto physical damage and complex property damage losses throughout the United States utilizing regulated state guidelines.
Main responsibilities include:
· Investigate, evaluate and settle first and third party non-injury claims applying comparative negligence where appropriate. Direct outside adjusters/vendors and negotiate billings. Thoroughly investigate subrogation potential including manufacturer defects.
· Maintain proper diary to meet productivity goals within specified performance objectives.
· Analyze complex coverage issues utilizing attorney opinions and input from underwriting, product management and claims supervisors/management.
· Handle incoming and outbound communication in a timely manner.
Qualifications we’re looking for:
· Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years experience handling moderate to high severity claims involving large physical damage and/or property damage losses or equivalent experience.
· Commercial auto, general liability, and multi-state experience preferred.
· Claims designation and/or state licensing is a plus.
· Ability to read and interpret insurance policies, state laws and regulations, and vehicle and property appraisals and invoices.
· Ability to compose professional letters, emails, reports and comprehensive file notes.
· Ability to speak effectively with vendors, customers, claimants, attorneys, and company management.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
· Must be able to interpret policies, perform analytical research and investigations and make sound judgments from data and records collected.
· Must have strong analytical and reasoning skills.
· May require some work outside of normal business hours to meet deadlines and/or to meet personal performance objectives at employee's discretion.
· Required to take a weekly after hour emergency phone rotation 1 to 2 times per year.
