PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Collateral Management Is a centralised Global support function whose primary role is to mitigate credit risk through the determination and calling of margin at a portfolio level. The team supports collateral arrangements for Derivatives, Repo Stock Lending and London Clearing House transactions. All aspects of collateral management are performed by the team. These functions include: negotiating collateral agreements, marketing the collateral management function to clients and RBS businesses, data management, margin calling, dispute management, portfolio reconciliations, collateral asset management and reporting
Team Function and Responsibilities:
- Role is within the Client Operations Collateral Function
- The Collateral Team is primarily based in London with staff also operating from North America and Asia (Hong Kong/Singapore/Tokyo). The team provides a full collateral service to all RBS clients trading in OTC, Repo and Stock Lending products.
- The role will involve working closely with the manager of the Collateral New Business, the Margin Team, senior individuals from other business areas (Front Office, Documentation, Legal, Finance, Technology) on risk mitigation and various business and project related process improvement initiatives.
The individual will be required to establish close working relationships, at all levels, with external customers, Front Office and Support Staff to ensure that all key customers of RBS Markets receive a consistently high level of service.
Business Knowledge
- Strong understanding of Markets products
- Strong understanding of Credit, Legal and Front Office processes
- OTC Derivative and Repo knowledge
- Understanding of the legal, credit and operational risks associated with Collateral
- Detailed understanding of commercial, legal, financial and operational aspects of collateral management
Technical Knowledge
- Strong software skills to include the following:
- MS Excel spreadsheet development and use
- MS Access database design and query implementation
- Experience of undertaking root cause analysis and process improvements
Day-to-Day responsibilities
- Participation in the global negotiation process of all collateral documentation GBM enters into
- Negotiation of CSAs directly with client base
- Act as an internal collateral consultancy providing collateral solutions to RBS Clients, Front Office, Legal and Credit .
- Enter and maintain all CSA static data in Algo
- On board clients into the collateral programme ensuring their experience is positive
Project Responsibilities:
- Responsible for working with IT to define STP requirements for on boarding of collateral agreements for the integration of SDS and collateral system.
- Support the introduction of SDS as a golden source for Collateral data by ensuring pre-defined and changing Collateral management requirements are met.
- Assist with system integration testing (SIT) phase by reviewing test cases.
- Facilitate co-ordinate development of new collateral process solution Acadia Soft to increase efficiencies, manage risk, satisfy regulations through a higher degree of automation STP.
- Assist in compiling test cases for user acceptance testing (UAT) with a structured logical approach.
- Support the Central Counterparty (CCP) model, cross product, cross entity, on both the House and Client side.
