The Opportunity
Headquartered just outside Vancouver, BC, with an office in Dublin, Ireland, FINCAD has been providing software to the financial industry for more than 20 years and is the leading provider of financial analytics technology, enabling global market participants to make informed hedging and investment decisions. FINCAD’s solutions support the valuation, reporting and risk management of derivatives and fixed income portfolios.
We are currently looking for a Quantitative Analyst to join our Client Services team. The role will be critical in building a world class client services organization through a combination of expert knowledge of customer situations, envisioned solutions, expertise of FINCAD’s solutions, as well as specific domain knowledge related to Quantitative Finance.

What We Will Ask of You
As a key member of the Client Services (CS) team, reporting to the CS Quantitative Lead, the CS Quantitative Analyst will provide expert support to FINCAD’s prospects and clients through demonstration of FINCAD solutions and highlighting how they match to business needs and technical issues of the client. The CS Quantitative Analyst will work very closely with FINCAD Sales and Support representatives and will be focused primarily post-sales support with some involvement with pre-sales and professional services. Specifically this role will be expected to:
- Mainly provide quantitative post-sales support, and some pre-sales support, to FINCAD Americas customers for all relevant FINCAD products to ensure customer satisfaction and success with FINCAD products.
- Provide a consistently high level of 2nd tier and 3rd tier quantitative support to customers for product installation and user support issues ensuring all client or partner requests are dealt with and documented per the Customer Support standards.
- Provide in depth FINCAD product training internally and to customers.
- Ensure client satisfaction and success through a consistently high level of product and technical assistance.
- Conduct quantitative product demonstrations and assist with demonstrations of all FINCAD products, when required, to help match business needs and meet technical requirements.
- When needed, undertake professional services engagements including training, custom work book development and enhanced product support remotely or on customer site.
- Design and develop sample applications including workbooks to best show the products capabilities for local markets and to highlight ease of integration.
- Work closely with Sales and prospects to proactively identify business needs and issues that can be met by using FINCAD products and generate creative ideas for solutions to those business needs and issues.
- In collaboration with the Sales team, communicate client and prospect needs to Product Management along with feedback on the suitability of the product roadmaps to meet ongoing client and prospect demands.
- Document conversations and activities with all contacts in the FINCAD’s CRM database.
- Clearly document all bugs and deficiencies within the FINCAD Support system and participate, where necessary, in their timely resolution.
- Work closely with colleagues to transition new clients from the pre-sales support phase to the post-sales support phase.
- Continually improve knowledge of the financial domain through self-study, attending seminars/ courses and subsequently disseminating the knowledge amongst the client services and sales teams.
- Travel to and from the Dublin and Vancouver offices and customer sites as required.
What You’ll Need
- PhD / Master’s degree and equivalent experience in mathematics, physics or a mathematical science.
- Strong quantitative skills – applied mathematics with a focus on probability, stochastic calculus, stochastic processes, partial differential equations and/or numerical analysis.
- Understanding of concepts pertaining to financial derivatives market, in particular financial instrument valuations and risk management, would be an asset.
- Programming experience (Excel/VBA, MATLAB, Python, C++) and object-oriented design experience would be a big asset.
- Very strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex information to a range of audiences and through a variety of mediums – particularly webinars
- Previous external client experience is a benefit, especially in pre-sale product demonstrations and scoping and delivering Professional Services.
- Quick learner with commitment to acquire a high level of domain knowledge in quantitative finance.
- Ability to work well under pressure, to meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, intellectually challenging, and performance-driven environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus, with an ability to adapt and the desire and tenacity to succeed.
- Ability to mentor team members and clients alike and provide technical leadership.
- Detail oriented with good planning and organizational abilities.
