CNC Machinist – Programmer

John Crane is seeking an exceptional CNC Machinist Programmer to join our 2nd shift team at our Houston, Texas facility.

SPECIFICALLY, THE CNC MACHINIST PROGRAMMER WILL:

  • Setup with assistance and operate one or more of the following machines: CNC turning center, CNC Machining center, CNC lathe, drill press, and/or various secondary equipment. May be required to operate multiple machines simultaneously within a cell.
  • Work from factory work order routings, prints, sketches, layout sheets, written or verbal instructions.
    Perform simple program edits to CNC programs and adjusts feeds and speeds as necessary. Reports errors to department supervisor.
  • Utilize knowledge of working properties for commonly used materials such as stainless steel, cast iron, steel, brass, etc.
  • As required, presets tools and may be required to resharpen own tools.
  • Inspect work produced using micrometer, bore gauge, vernier calipers, or other measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications. Maintains tolerances as close as .0005".
  • Follow preventative maintenance procedures on equipment as prescribed by the supervisor and report operating difficulties of equipment.
  • Perform duties in accordance with company safety policies, reports unsafe conditions.
  • Make proper labor and time reports.
  • Perform other duties as required.
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY:
    Education: Requires knowledge equivalent to 3 to 4 years of high school education plus ability to read and interpret component prints or drawings, make average arithmetic calculations and resolve elementary technical problems.
    Experience: Requires 2 to 3 years previous work experience on CNC or manual equipment doing comparable work plus 4 weeks to 11 months on the job training.
