Commercial Accountant – Birmingham recruitment
An International law firm requires a Commercial Accountant to join their Birmingham office for an initial 6 month Fixed Term Contract. As the Commercial Accountant, you will be ensuring that monthly accounts for mainly ITBusiness Services as well as Marketing and Finance are produced accurately and on time and are fully understood. The role is also key to supporting the Business Service Directors, particularly in helping them manage their budgets, forecasts and spend to date including identification of risks and opportunities to deliver cost efficiency.
You will have the ability to understand cost drivers within the functional areas. Ability to forecast accurately and understand impact of actions on cost base. Understanding of key commercial contracts within the responsible areas. Accurate workings to support reported numbers. Related balance sheet areas kept up to date and controlled.
You will be responsible for understanding and helping drive financial performance within the areas of responsibility. Key outputs will be rigorous analysis of spend areas including the understanding of key cost drivers and trends, accurate forecasting including the identification of risks against budget as well as opportunities for cost efficiency. Budgeting including formulation of plans to drive cost efficiency. Monthly account production including accurate formulation of accruals prepayments.
You must be a qualified Accountant with demonstrable experience in a commercial role whilst also being able to produce monthly accounts to tight deadlines, with a good understanding of preparation of accruals, prepayments and variance analysis. Good computer literacy, attention to detail and strong time management skills are essential.
You must be able to converse with non-financial people at a senior level.
