Commodities European Energy (power/gas/carbon) Trader, ASO/VP, London recruitment

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The European Energy desk trades UK gas physical and financial swaps, options, Dutch financial gas and German and UK financial power. It also trades European Union Emissions Trading Scheme swaps, futures and options and is positioned near other energy and bulks desks such as oil, coal, freight and iron ore.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Trader reporting to primary trader in the underlyings: Emissions (EUAs, CERs, ERUs), UK and European Gas (NBP, TTF), German and UK financial baseload power - entails:

* Monitoring the markets and executing orders
* Managing risk and pnl reporting
* Booking and clearing trades and downstream requirements
* Settling price and volatility curves

Analysis and Structuring:
* Research the relevant markets in order to understand and communicate policy, supply and
  demand, spreads, actual and implied vol studies, and generate trade ideas for the trading desks
  and sales teams
* Independently model non-vanilla customer structures

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
* Essential to have experience in Gas Trading and knowledge of options market
* Ideally experience in structuring
* Strong spreadsheet and system skills with good quantitative ability and understanding of present
  value and option concepts
* Collaborative and motivated personality
