The Strategy and Economics Department supports the strategic growth of the business, and the wider group, through analysis and advice to commercial Business Units on the development of energy markets and implications for the long-term strategy. The department analyses long-term market fundamentals, market structure and regulatory change in order to support strategy development and specific commercial projects including business case development, appraisal and asset/project evaluation.
Role objectives
You will initially work in this Central Strategy Team, participating in the development of the company’s growth strategy. There will also be opportunities to assist the Business Partner teams in supporting the strategic development of individual business units within the company.
Duties Responsibilities
High level responsibilities within the Strategy Department are:
- Strategy development:
- Developing, improving and championing strategic plans from group level down to Business Unit level Cooperating with and supporting the annual business planning process
- Development of strategic infrastructure:
- Developing theprocesses and models required to support strategic decisions
- Delivering research and analysis to support those processes and models
- Strategic decision process:
- Process management of individual strategic decisions (including major commercial transactions and acquisitions)
- Economic modelling and valuation, analysis and commercial Due Diligence

Experience
Education
The teams also rely on a solid foundation of knowledge gained through education and experience. We would expect you to have a degree level education (2.1 or above) in maths, science, engineering, economics or a related numerate discipline.
