Commodities Trade Finance Specialist

Key Accountabilities

Credit monitoring: responsible for monitoring of the Commodity Traders Credit portfolio.
Manage a significant portfolio of facilities protecting the Bank's exposure to risk through the constant monitoring of credit facilities and valuation of collateral.
Jointly responsible for a good relationship with the Bank's customers and intermediaries / counter-parties, maintaining and building client relationships and ensuring good utilization of the facility.
Approval of and ongoing monitoring of transactions to ensure they remain within agreed credit parameters as approved / recommended by RCO/SCO.
Showing credit risks in a timely manner by reacting to facility excesses and collateral shortfalls.
Ensuring that proper notification to (risk) management of deviations and deterioration in the Bank's
credit risk position takes place.
Regular liaison with traffic / financial / trading contacts of our clients and intermediaries /
counter-parties such as warehouses / surveyors / forwarders / insurance companies etc.
Providing timely and proper release instructions to warehouses / forwarders and information updates to relevant counter parties such as insurance companies etc.

Skills Experience

Structured commodity trade finance - specialist - minimum 5 years experiences.
Commodity trader financing, with knowledge of
* Bills of Lading
* Letters of credit
* Warehouse receipts
* Hedging would be beneficial
Metals, Softs Energy
Various Middle office functions;
* Monitoring client limits
* Arranging payments and funding

It is essential the candidate has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the operational processes involved with Letters of credit and Bills of Lading.
Very strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially when dealing with very high volumes.
Ability to prioritise numerous requests from numerous parties simultaneously.
Good interpersonal skills for dealing with people at all organizational levels.
Process orientated, but also ability to 'think outside the box' eg independent / creative thinking.
Identify and build strong, effective relationships with both the business and technology stakeholders, across global offices
Challenge the status quo, offering and proposing new automated solutions, transforming business processes and introducing global standardization
A results orientated person ensuring BAU timelines are met, whilst ensuring business priorities are delivered
Pro-actively engage, manage and build strong relationships with both business and technology (including vendors) stakeholders
Work with the business to understand their requirements, define new processes and workflows. Question and challenge the status quo and assumptions
Identify risks and issues early. Communicate them to the relevant people in a timely manner
Work proactively with your fellow CMT colleagues at times across geographies, ensuring work is proportionally distributed and that targets and project deadlines are met.
Proactively form relationships with key individuals in selected other functions (eg Group Treasury, Group Finance, Group Corporate Development) to ensure flawless execution of Investor Relations processes and deliverables
To act as a contact point to Group Treasury and take a leading role in ensuring messaging around debt issuances is both robust and appropriate
