Communication Scientist Job in Saint Louis 63103, Missouri US

We are currently seeking a Communication Scientist for an immediate opening at our St. Louis office.  The Communication Scientist will apply research to push our state-of-the-art power-line communication (PLC) technologies that will lead to new product development. This Candidate will also work within a research team, under the direction of a Sr. Scientist and with other specialists of PLC technologies and power distribution systems, to generate ideas and research/experiment with potential solutions from the modeling/simulation phase through field-equipment prototypes and proof-of-concept. Duties

·         Design and implement signal processing algorithms for PHY layer PLC communications.

·         Develop Matlab models and perform simulations.

·         Analyze data from experiments.

·         Occasionally work with engineering lab and/or engineers to procure parts and guide the building of prototypes.

 

Requirements

·         A minimum of a MSEE degree with a specialization in communications theory or signal processing; PhD is preferred.

·         A minimum of 10 years experience in physical layer algorithm design, particularly OFDM, CDMA, DS-SS, MIMO, and adaptive equalization.  Experience in coding theory (forward error correction) and network theory is a plus.

·         Minimum 10 years experience using Matlab to implement signal processing algorithms.  C/C++ expertise is highly desired.

·         Experience being more applied-research oriented than product-development oriented.  Ability to work hands-on with test equipment and developing prototype software algorithms is a plus.

·         Creative problem-solver that can apply knowledge of communication theory and state-of-the-art techniques to challenging real-world problems.

·         Ability to work well in a team environment where creative brainstorming occurs regularly, everyone’s ideas are challenged, and pride of ownership does not impede cooperatively working toward the chosen course of action.

·         Strong oral and written communication skills.
