Compensation Accounting Analyst recruitment
Overview of Responsibilities:
This is an Analyst position working within Finance Shared Services. The role involves working within both the Compensation Accounting and Payroll departments within Finance Shared Services. As such the candidate will have cross functional expertise in both payroll support and general accounting. The candidate will report to the head of the US region of Compensation Accounting or one of the direct reports within this function.
Compensation Accounting Duties:
- Assist the Associates in the month end close process by updating the working schedules and posting the month end journals.
- Provide analytical reviews of the month end data and provide commentary on month end variances.
- Assisting the Associates in completing the balance sheet reconciliations. Specific duties would include updating bonus, severance and payroll clearing reconciliations.
- Work cross functionally with a view to provide process improvements to allow further automation of compensation accounting tasks. Specifically the candidate would be expected to suggest process improvements between Compensation Accounting and Payroll.
Payroll Duties:
- Responsible for daily regional payroll operations to ensure optimum effectiveness and efficiency of vendor(s) services.
- Ensure payroll compliance with all statutory compliance regulations and internal controls.
- Coordinate with other internal partners in Human Resources, Finance and all areas of the business to ensure effective communication and accurate payments to employees.
- Partners with and supports external stakeholders in issue resolution and the development of new process and technical solutions.
Qualifications:
- Although an accounting background is not necessary, the candidate must demonstrate that they have a desire to pursue such a career and would want to train as an accountant.
- The candidate must demonstrate that they have experience in problem solving and have worked in such an environment with evidence of successes to date.
- Experience in a payroll processing environment with outsourced payroll vendor preferred
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of people
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Access required
- Ability to work with technology and quickly pick up new technologies needed
- Ability to improvise necessary.
- Working knowledge of Payroll and Tax issues is necessary (i.e. California tax issues, payroll policies in different states, etc)
- Bachelors Degree from 4 year institution required with GPA above 3.0
