Chevron Africa Latin America Exploration Production Company is accepting online applications for the position of Completions Engineer (Sand Face)- Block 14 Lucapa MCP located in Houston, Texas.

Overview:
The position is Houston based, but there is possible travel required (estimated at 1 to 2 times per year) to Luanda and Malongo camp in Angola. This position may also transition with the DC project in Phase 4 from Houston to Luanda, and then to Malongo, as an onsite SME to coordinate/supervise the execution of the completions (especially the ESTMZ and IWC completions).

Position Details:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Championing the IWC technologies and upper completion components planned for application on this project.
  • Championing the IWC technologies with the sand control design, specifically the ESTMZ technology.
  • Development of detailed Class 3 probabilistic cost and schedule estimates for selected completion designs (especially IWC technologies), utilizing all relevant industry benchmarking.
  • Preparing a Basis of Design (BoD) and Basis of Estimate (BoE) for the selected completion designs.
  • Incorporating Best Practices / Lessons Learned into the completion planning activities, to improve performance.
  • Preparing Service Partner OC requirements and in country implementation plan.
  • Provide requirements for future manufacturing and testing process in the form of factory acceptance testing (FAT) and System Integration Testing (SIT).
  • Identifying, evaluating, and incorporating well design changes and/or technology deployment into the project planning process to help drive cost reduction and/or production enhancement or improvements in reservoir recovery.
  • Developing a Risk and Uncertainty Management plan to mitigate completion design uncertainties.
  • Investigating potential Well Construction interface issues and developing mitigations for same.
  • Developing well intervention and operating expense forecasts for the life of the well.
  • Investigating any special equipment needs for the selected completion designs and preparing a list of the long lead items.
  • Supporting the senior Completions Engineer on the project, as directed.
  • Supporting the Subsurface project CPDEP process and the DC Single Well CPDEP process.
  • Supporting the project's IIF (Incident Injury Free) culture.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 6 years directly related experience.
  • Broad experience in all aspects of completion engineering design and completions engineering, production engineering, and field production operations.
  • Alternatively, a hi-pot engineer willing to be developed as an ESTMZ / IWC SME.
  • Able to design (including selection of best sand control method; tubing and completion string; completion and packer fluids; downhole chemical delivery; DH data acquisition system); prepare completion program and estimate associated completion time and costs for exploration; development; and appraisal wells.
  • Alternatively, a hi-pot engineer willing to be developed as a Completions SME.
  • Demonstrated ability to build team consensus and ability to work effectively and collaboratively in multi-discipline; multi-cultural environment.
  • Able to interact effectively with Asset Teams, DC Superintendents, peers and service and contractor representatives.
  • History of innovation and willingness to challenge the status quo and improve performance, in a constructive way.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in utilizing CPDEP and managing project deliverables.
  • Familiar with Subsurface Asset Development CPDEP tools and processes.
