New Product Development is a key growth initiative for Brady Corporation and we are currently looking for an experienced Scrum/Agile software project management professional with proven capability managing new product development for software projects. Qualified candidate will have overall project management responsibility for all aspects of new product development including technical, quality and delivery. Ensures projects meet customer requirements and remain within business and project boundaries and they are executed according to the New Product Development process. Manages both strategic and tactical decisions to set project direction, define resource and budget requirements and ensure project completion. Key attributes are strong “evangelist” behavior and a sense of “ownership’. Primary responsibility is leading projects through the complete project life cycle, and be directly accountable to business unit and corporate management for results (high visibility). Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitation
- Ensure that the projects are following the new product development process and other Brady processes and procedures.
- Proactively collaborate, anticipating and managing progress and risk/impediments.
- Responsible for reporting of performance including risks, sprint and release progress.
- Facilitate the team in identifying managing interactivity dependencies within product development.
- Facilitate the estimation of Product Backlog Items and other Scrum activities with an understanding of problem domain.
- Conduct on-going project meetings.
- Create an environment of team spirit and enthusiasm around what is being delivered.
- Proactively resolves conflicts between people and if needed escalates appropriately.
- Maintain team collaboration in a partially distributed team organization including outsource partners
Planning/Reporting
- Responsible for time boxed (2-4 week) sprint planning and execution.
- Gather disseminate project information on a regular basis, documenting team agreements, sprint plans, release plans, and retrospectives utilizing TFS, Scrum for team systems or similar planning tools.
- Contribute to ongoing refinement of product development processes.
- Facilitates team progress, with a focus on delivering business value quickly
- Present and manage progress information for business unit with Project Management Office.
Leadership
- Mentor coach for agile methodologies to organization both business and technical teams.
Project Leadership
- Lead teams in the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet business needs by applying agile methods.
- Enables close cooperation across roles and functions and remove barriers.
- Shields team from external interference during sprints.
- Responsible for holding team to a definition of 'done'.
Communication
- Act as the focal point for project communications, both within team and across team boundaries.
- Work with other product teams to identify and address cross-project dependences.
- Represents team with product owner and to Senior Management.
- Coordinate distributed work teams for planning, deliverables and setting expectations.
- Track the project budgets on a monthly basis and report any variances.
- Resolve resource conflicts by working with the process coordinators and Site RD Managers.
Job Requirements:
- Work requires the level of educational development normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in a technical field with a preference of Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Formal project management training is required. Scrum Master Certification is a MUST.
- Requires a minimum of 4-6 years previous project management experience managing product development projects with a moderate level scope and complexity.
- Requires strong communication and leadership skills to effectively manage cross-functional team, communicate with all levels of the organization and make presentations to senior management
- Understanding and experience with more than one software project management method (Waterfall, RUP, and Agile)
- Experience in at least one software technology (C++, C#, Microsoft .Net, or Java). Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, with familiarity of Team Foundation tools.
- Scrum Practitioner Certification is desired.
- 3-5 years experience as a Software Program/Project Manager using Agile techniques within a technical environment
- Must have experience as a Scrum Master in delivering across multiple initiatives including experience teaching teams, consulting on projects, and leading in the Scrum Master role.
- Advanced understanding of and experience with Software Development project life cycles, as well as advanced project management skills.
- Superior communication and cross-team coordination skills, oral, written, and presentation as well as strong interpersonal skills are required.
- Experience developing product software a plus. Great facilitation skills, with ability to lead by serving.
- Has a stake in seeing the team succeed. Needs to have a low personal ego, but high pride in building team and high self-awareness.
- Good relationship building skills and needs to have a good relationship with Managers, Product Managers/owners, and others
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of related job functions and roles on team (Marketing, Design and Quality).
- Experience with Offshore development collaboration and management.
