Compliance Advice and Assurance Specialist, Cards
Banking and Financial Services Group (BFS) is the primary relationship manager for Macquarie's retail client base in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, North America and Europe. Products and services include wealth management, stockbroking and retail lending and banking solutions such as residential and commercial mortgages, investment lending, personal loans, credit cards and relationship banking to businesses and professionals.
Macquarie's business is structured into six operating groups and four service groups. Strong prudential management has been a key to Macquarie's success over many years. The Risk Management Group (RMG) is an independent, centralised unit responsible for assessing and monitoring risks across Macquarie. This includes market and liquidity risk, credit risk, compliance risk and operational risk. RMG personnel liaise closely with all operating areas to ensure risks are understood and properly managed.
As part of the Compliance team, you will work with key stakeholders of the business and actively manage develop and operationalise the compliance framework for the Personal Banking product lines, with a key focus on credit cards, within the Banking and Financial Services Group (BFS).
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Overview and enhancement of the compliance and risk management framework of the credit cards business
- Advising and assisting key business stakeholders to meet their compliance requirements including documenting the existence and adequacy of controls to manage such compliance requirements;
- Engaging with stakeholders in the Personal Banking businesses and the broader Macquarie Risk Management Group;
- Managing regulator interactions in response to queries, audits, incidents, discussion papers, etc.
- Advising the business on new and changed regulations and standards, and assisting the business to assess the impact;
- Performing targeted compliance risk and policy reviews, and drafting and assisting with implementing solutions to process and control design;
- Incident and breach reporting; documenting incidents and breaches (including their causes) and tracking identified control improvements and actions to ensure they are implemented;
Key Technical Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required for the Role
Experience
- Experience in Personal Banking, in particular credit cards, and the relevant regulatory frameworks;
- Experience in an operational risk management or compliance role; and
- Previous retail financial services compliance experience.
Skills and Knowledge/Technical Skills
- Thorough understanding of ASIC and APRA compliance and regulatory frameworks including NCCP;
- Thorough understanding of credit cards specific requirements including Scheme and PCI compliance;
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal; and
- Good interpersonal skills.

Educational Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Audit, Finance, Commerce or a similar discipline (CA/CFA qualified preferred).
