Compliance Officer

An exciting Compliance Officer opportunity has opened with a Financial Services firm, specialising in International Development

Role Details:

This is a broad and varied generalist compliance role, reporting in to the Chief Compliance Officer. You will be advising and supporting business units on the following aspects of the Global Ethical and Compliance system:

* UK/US anti-bribery and corruption legislation, including UKBA, POCA, FCPA and similar laws impacting the firm's world-wide operations.
* Corruption risk assessments.
* Counterparty due diligence.
* Gifts hospitality.
* Conflicts of interest.
* Ethical policy matters.
* Project and contract compliance reviews and audit.
* Training and promulgation.
* Policy and process review and maintenance.
* Investigations.
* Advising, supporting and liaising with other HQ functions: Legal, Internal Audit, Finance, HR, ITS and Secretariat.
* Maintaining and improving Gift and Hospitality and COI registers, databases and other resources.
* General office and documentation management activities.
* Monitoring and auditing compliance with the firm's Global Ethical and Compliance systems.
* Deputising for Chief Compliance Officer when required.
* Maintaining detailed and up to date knowledge on anti-corruption laws, regulatory rules, standards and frameworks that impact the business.
* Superintendence of the firm's Policies and Authorities Manual.
* Management of Ethical and Compliance materials on the company's intranet.
* Participating in and supporting Compliance Inspection and Audit Programme.

Skill Set Required:

* Extensive and thorough grounding in compliance issues (non-NGO or financial service sectors).
* Up to date knowledge of UK/US and other legal frameworks and best practice.
* Knowledge and hands-on practical experience of personally conducting counterparty due diligence in UK/US and developing countries.
* Knowledge and hands-on practical experience of personally conducting branch and project inspections/audits in developing countries is desirable.
* Must have experience of ABAC in emerging or developing countries.
* Strong analytical/technical legal interpretation skills.
* Strong IT skills.
* Good interpersonal skills and strong communication skills.
* Background in mining, engineering, oil and gas sector/s preferable.
