Compliance Officer, UK Private Wealth Management

Based in London, this role involves all aspects of compliance work for our clients Private Wealth Management business in the UK, including advice, advocacy, product vetting, communications review, training and surveillance and monitoring controls and AML as part of our comprehensive program for achievement and maintenance of compliance with UK laws and FSA regulations as well as the global, regional and local policies, standards and procedures, with the mission to protect the interests of clients and the integrity and reputation of our client.
Responsibilities:
- The position is Compliance Officer on the PWM Compliance Advisory Team, supporting the UK PWM businesses which advise predominantly private clients ranging from Affluent to Ultra High Net Worth.
- Advise on Compliance-related topics.
- Assist in representing Compliance in the New Product Approval Process at UK and Global levels, which includes reviewing new products and business initiatives launched in the bank for PWM use.
- Approve PWM specific marketing material and client communications for compliance with MiFID, other regulatory requirements and the bank’s policies and standards for communications and marketing material.
- Evaluate and advise upon one-off and unusual transactions to protect the bank against money laundering and avoid the facilitation of client tax evasion, and to mitigate other legal, regulatory and reputational risks.
- Ensure that any sensitive issue is escalated to the appropriate channels (e.g. Reputational Risk Committee, Global Compliance) with your sound analysis and recommendations.
- Design and perform Compliance Monitoring/Surveillance Controls for the PWM businesses.
- Provide training to the PWM businesses on compliance, regulatory and reputational risks related to products, cross-border activities, trading and client services and other subjects relevant to compliance risk management.
- Maintain current expertise in the regulatory environment and key developments, and advise the PWM businesses and Compliance colleagues globally on UK and European regulatory matters.
- Take on further responsibilities depending on personal job development and the evolution and needs of the PWM Compliance Department.
- Work effectively in a global team network and engage colleagues throughout the enterprise in Compliance, other units of the Risk division and the Business to facilitate execution of goals, exchange of best practices and to maintain insight to the product pipeline and business trends in the bank.
- Develop effective partnerships with PWM Business Heads, COO and Risk colleagues
- Ensure that PWM policies and procedures are updated on a timely basis to reflect regulatory changes.
