Compliance Officer, WM – Special Markets and Controls recruitment
The Wealth Management (WM) Compliance Department works as a team to advise and control the business' activities in relation to compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies including the Banking Act, FAA, SFA, Cross Border Activities, Investment Suitability, US Persons compliance and Conflicts of Interests. The SG WM Compliance Control Team ("Controls Team") works in close cooperation with other Compliance teams, including AML Compliance, Central Compliance, Compliance Risk Assessment and Review team, WM Compliance Hong Kong (HK), WM Legal Singapore. In addition, the Controls Team works closely with the Location Risk Units in SG/HK, Chief of Staff, WMO (in particular Account Management and Front Line Support) and other risk or control focused units. The Controls Team may be supported by staff members with control targets and responsibilities whilst reporting to Advisory units. The coordination and alignment of all control activities in WM Compliance is a responsibility of the Controls Team.
The Controls Team is expected to carry out a comprehensive risk based assessment to determine the appropriate control areas and the sampling and review methodology. The assessment should reflect global and local standards and business practices, and regulatory expectations. The measures of success for the Controls Team are: No key risks remain uncontrolled, the approach is fully aligned with activities of other control functions, controls were executed in a timely manner and comprehensively documented/reported, stakeholders were engaged appropriately, follow-up actions were duly tracked and closed and change management actions duly initiated.
The Special Markets Advisory team supports Global Investors APAC and Australia, and advises on policy matters specifically relevant to EU-domiciled clients. The measures of success for the Special Markets Advisory team are: Good understanding of business developments and needs, pro-active and timely advice, a partnership approach, and an ability to identify risks/ gaps and policy/ process improvement opportunities and needs and engage stakeholders effectively to drive change to implementation and closure, including contributing the Alignment with peers in Zurich and HK is key to success.
Key tasks and responsibilities include:
- Performing periodic controls related to Cross-border, Information Management and Investment Suitability as well as thematic control requests through both manual and electronic means: data sourcing may be required, as well as desktop reviews and face-to face engagement.
- Carrying out any other ad-hoc reviews that arise from Global Functions, Business/Support functions or regulators
- Provision of high quality Compliance advice to the Business and Support functions, specifically with respect to Information Management/ Conflict clearance, Australia, the controls performed and on applicable internal policies, and local law and regulations, including management of the Regulatory Change Tracker. Where gaps or discrepancies are identified in the course of carrying out advisory and control tasks, candidate is expected to bring forward change and alignment to remove any inconsistency with the support of the team.
- Design and delivery of compliance training and /or materials.
- Liaise with employees, senior management, regulators and major stakeholders as appropriate and necessary.
Requirements:
Our ideal candidate should have the following requisites:
- Minimum 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience either within legal, compliance, regulatory or audit experience pertaining to wealth management. Audit experience in other areas would be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Wealth Management products service offerings
- Thorough record-keeping abilities and attention to details
- Good drafting skills and strong communicator
- Strong engagement skills, confident and ability to deal with potentially contentious issues effectively.
- Technological proficiency or inclination, including Excel
