The Compliance Team Leader will report directly to the Head of Compliance and will facilitate the development of a more robust compliance function within a dynamic and ever-expanding online broking business. The business is based in London and regulated by the FSA, with affiliates globally in countries such as the US, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, as well as branch offices and passport licenses throughout Europe. The role will require the individual to be responsive to the needs of the business and reactive to regulatory issues which emerge as a result of a worldwide client base.
Key Duties Responsibilities:
- Manage the 2-3 compliance team members on an ongoing basis
- Oversee compliance monitoring program, to include identifying regulatory changes that impact the program and ensuring that the identified risks are factored
- Maintain the compliance manuals, policies, and procedures
- Manage the flow of communication between compliance units in various jurisdictions where we have offices
- Maintain an up-to-date regulatory knowledge base as rules and regulations change over time
- Resolve customer complaints including those escalated to the Financial Ombudsman
- Provide advice, analysis and/or resolution on compliance related concerns and queries to various departments
- Provide advice, analysis and/or resolution on matters that arise in relation to client money and anti-money laundering
- Provide advice to the business on regulations that impact a firm dealing in exchange-traded as well as OTC products
- Perform special projects as needed

Experience and Skills:
- Fundamental understanding of regulatory issues that could affect an online brokerage
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements with respect to but not limited to the FSA handbook, MiFID, the Money Laundering Regulations, and other European regulations
- Ability to work with the business and build smooth working relationships
- Team player and able to prioritize in a fast moving, constantly changing environment
- Analytical and problem solving skills; and attention to detail
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate in English, and French, Italian, German and/or Greek (preferred, but not required)
- Experience in risk, internal audit or other monitoring function (preferred, but not required)
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be eligible to work in the UK (No Visa Sponsorship)
- Sound, proven compliance experience or relevant department experience at an FSA regulated firm
- BA/BA degree in Business, Finance, Economics or other related field
