Components Engineer

Specific Job Description Candidate will be responsible for the performance of detailed part level obsolescence studies. Must be proficient with computer tools such as MS Excel and Access. Should be comfortable working in a team environment and willing to shadow a senior components engineer at the start of the assignment to develop the necessary skills for this position. Also must be able to learn task specific tools such as TacTech / LCM, Partminer, and web based obsolescence tools. Must have good communication skills and able to effectively work with manufacturers and other external part suppliers. Other general responsibilities include assisting Design Engineering in selecting parts for new designs and design changes; component failure analyses; locating sources for parts required to support production lines and logistics; and providing support to Supplier Quality on problems with parts during receiving inspection and production. In order to effectively manage program obsolescence risks, detailed part level analyses are required for each of the subsystems and assemblies. This information must be presented to program management to support programmatic decisions. Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks.
