Position Summary
Leading industrial products manufacturer serving the fire protection, municipal, power plant, chemical plant commercial and agricultural markets is seeking a Configuration Engineer due to strong orders and aggressive new sales forecasts. The successful candidate will perform advanced engineering calculations (FEA, Torsion, Strength, Structural, Seismic, etc.) and assemble a suitable bill of material to exceed customer order expectations. Both Senior and entry level positions are available. The position is located in the Indianapolis, IN area.
Responsibilities
· Perform advanced vibration, torsion, structural vibration, FEA, seismic and mechanical strength calculations for standard and custom products
· Stay current with applicable performance codes and their impact on existing tools and market
· Create advanced design programs and tools to improve order processing and equipment validation
· Create or modify 2D/3D CAD drawings
· Review and complete design requirements from customer specifications, drawings, write up notes while working closely with project management, sales, applications and customers to clarify order details
· Prepare BOM’s, technical documentation and submittals
· Maintain order logs, BOM’s, design drawings, engineering record per departmental standards
· Special projects as assigned
· Work and promote teamwork in accordance with corporate standards for safety, environmental, quality, continuous improvement, communication, internal controls, etc.
Qualifications
· BSME, BSMET, BSCE or similar mechanical based science degree
· 1+ years experience in manufacturing environment
· Awareness of contemporary business initiatives including lean principles, ISO quality systems, safety systems
· Mathematical, analytical and problem solving skills with understanding of design to manufacturing chain
· Virtual Basic VBA code experience
· PE registration preferred but not mandatory
· Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
· Extraordinary attention to detail and work accuracy track history
· Superior communication track record
· Application literacy including MS office (Excel, Word, Access, Power Point, Project), Lotus Notes Adobe Acrobat
· 3D modeling experience- CATIA preferred
· Ability to perform with minimal supervision.
· Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals
