POSITION SUMMARY:
Global Wholesale Services (GWS) is the largest back-office support unit for all of Scotia Capital Markets. GWS is seeking a Confirmation Officer to join the team in the Global Derivative Documentation department. The Confirmation Officer's main responsibility is to confirm all Structured Derivative Product transactions in writing with external and internal customers using ISDA templates. The incumbent will have a primary responsibility to confirm Total Return Swaps, Equity Options and Energy Derivatives. Confirmation Duties will be as follows: generation, follow up, matching of incoming confirmations, phone confirmations, discrepancy resolution updating tracking systems and archiving of fully executed deal confirmation. All of these duties will be governed by strict timeline which the Confirmation Officer is expected to adhere to. GWS Structured Documentation supports all business lines in Toronto, New York, London and Ireland Trading Desks.
Key accountabilities for this role:
- The incumbent would be responsible for creating deal confirmations for all Structured Derivative Products, which require ISDA confirmations
- The candidate must maintain the Confirmation Tracking system in Scrittura and Applix.
- The system must be continually updated regarding the current status of the confirmations
- The incumbent must be knowledgeable and maintain their knowledge on ISDA Definitions
- The incumbent is also responsible for the review and matching of incoming confirmations
- The candidate is responsible for the daily follow up on outstanding items with external and internal customers
- The incumbent must also fax, photocopy, prep confirmations for scanning and mail items
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The incumbent must have excellent oral and written communication skills in dealing with internal and external customers
- Analytical skills to detect/escalate or solve problems is required
- A high level of accuracy / effectiveness and the ability to prioritize and multitask at all times
- The incumbent must have strong computer skills in order to handle the daily workload and be able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Knowledge of 2002 Equity Definitions and 2005 Commodity Definitions and asset
- Derivative Products Knowledge is an asset
- Previous ISDA Confirmation experience is beneficial
EDUCATION AND ACCREDITATIONS:
- An undergraduate degree from a recognized university with a business concentration
- Canadian Securities Course certification is an asset
