Position Description
Consultant, Competitive Assessment Price-to-Win
SMA is actively recruiting for a Consultant to perform advanced competitive and market research and analysis for our Competitive Assessment/Price-to-Win practice. The Consultant is also expected to significantly contribute to the preparation of client deliverables.
Consultant responsibilities include:
• Research a variety of sources (especially government market sources) and apply creative problem solving skills to interpret relevant information
• Analyze data, develop assumptions and initial recommendations for the Project Lead
• Present the findings in spreadsheets and PowerPoint “client ready” deliverables
• Develop profiles on government organizations including their organizational structure, buying habits, and key trends and drivers
• Develop profiles on government contractors including organizational structure, relative strengths and weaknesses, key programs/contracts, and overall trends
• Conduct research and analysis of the government marketplace to understand important trends
• Perform quantitative analysis to assess opportunity or market size
Minimum Qualifications:
• BA/BS degree required
• Knowledge of the Federal government market
• Knowledge of Federal government contracting mechanisms
• Industry experience researching the government market and related competitive, technology and pricing issues from a variety of sources including databases, government budget and procurement materials, trade publications, WWW, and other open sources
• Demonstrated consultative problem solving skills to develop assumptions, determine findings and craft recommendations for clients
• 3-7 years of prior experience in research and analysis in any of the following areas:
• Competitive intelligence
• Market intelligence
• Federal or State and Local government market
• Information technology market
• Defense and aerospace market
• Public administration
• Policy
• Client-focused with strong analytical and communications skills are a must
• Ability to handle multiple projects without losing focus
• Ability to work within project budget and meet deadlines
• Ability to work on significant portions of a project with limited supervision
• Strong skills using PowerPoint and Excel
Preferred but not required:
• Understanding of technology markets (information technology, weapons systems, etc.)
• Experience in developing pricing intelligence analysis
