Corporate Treasury provides corporate finance advisory service to senior management and internal business units. It also optimizes the Firm's liquidity and capital base, manages the Firm's foreign exchange and interest rate exposure, and coordinates relationships with regulators, rating agencies, and creditors.
Morgan Stanley's Corporate Treasury department is seeking an experienced professional (Senior Manager/Vice President) preferably with experience in the area of capital management who is able to work across the Treasury functions.
It is essential that the candidate has strong communication and analytical skills, and is able to build strong relationships with key Business Unit contacts. The candidate will also have regular and direct interactions with the Global Treasury team, Regulatory Controllers, Risk, Financial Control Group, IT and other groups in the business.
Team Structure:
Morgan Stanley's Corporate Treasury department is largely focussed in three regions; New York, London and Asia (Tokyo and Hong Kong), with responsibilities covering three main areas:
1. Liquidity - recommend the Firm's liquidity policy and framework; manage the Firm's overall liquidity profile; provide analysis relating to various capital and liquidity metrics; invest and manage the Firm's liquidity portfolio
2. Funding - develop and execute long-term financing plan for the Firm, securing attractive financing in global markets; build syndicate relationships to evaluate and access demand for the Firm's credit; continuously monitor the global capital markets for opportunities to enhance funding diversification and cost-effectiveness through the implementation of new products
3. Capital - manage the Firm's long-term capital resources on a global basis; develop policies regarding equity capital requirements, capital structure, dividends and stock repurchases; promote optimal use of the Firm's capital while ensuring compliance with regulatory, rating agency and Firm capital requirements
In Europe, the department comprises of 18 people in London, 2 in Zurich and 1 in Frankfurt
Responsibilities Include:
1. Ownership of the Firm's subsidiary double leverage reporting process, liaison with various stakeholder groups, co-ordination of actions to resolve identified issues
2. Co-ordination of the UK Group's annual Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) and ownership of key Treasury inputs
3. Co-ordination of various EMEA capital planning initiatives
4. Capital support for various legal entities within the UK Group, e.g.. dividends, infusions, standalone ICAAP requirements
5. Analysis of the Treasury implications of business unit transactions, acquisitions and divestitures and educating the Business Units on capital management
6. Collaboration with various areas to improve the pricing and allocation of Firm financial resources (funding, liquidity and capital)
7. Analysis of regulatory developments and requests, including Basel 3 implementation
Skills Required
1. The individual would preferably have a background in capital management as well as possess a core understanding of other Treasury areas including liquidity and funding
2. A good understanding of the principles of risk management balanced with a commercial awareness to support the Business Units
3. The role requires a broad understanding of the Securities industry, including a strong analytical ability to decipher the Treasury impacts of complex transactions
4. Strong analytical capabilities including ability to summarise complex business problems and detailed analysis with clarity and brevity
5. Strong teamwork skills with an ability to work with virtual teams and colleagues across the regions contributing to common goals
6. Ability to develop relationships and rapport with senior management and various risk committees
7. Excellent communication, interpersonal and client service skills
8. Adept at working in a fast-paced, high energy level environment
9. Demonstrate leadership potential and good decision making skills
10. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products is required.
