Costing Manager for Action Sports Job in Portland 97005, Oregon Us

As our Costing Manager for Action Sports, you'll lead our team to create and execute a margin plan for the category and business needs. You'll participate and oversee the process of cost validation at Line Planning, train and facilitate the process of pre-costing, provide direction to the Product Creation Centers on cost direction and confirm finalized FOBs; be responsible in meeting Pricing Margin targets through an educational/problem solving process with the category teams. You'll identify Margin implications of category business decisions and articulate solutions to create a Margin accretive plan with the category. You'll manage the costing/pricing process to achieve the best price possible from initial line plan to price confirmation; anticipate problems, offer solutions and address issues within the costing process. You'll work with the category team on problem solving solutions and provide options to better meet gross pricing margin targets; provide product line costing and margin analysis information to the category team and participate in product development solutions and decisions. You'll coordinate and determine initial estimated FOBs for new key styles in development. You'll also collaborate with the category and sourcing team to understand and participate in the development of seasonal product concepts; ensure that products are developed and commercialized in a manner that is consistent with established construction, fit, quality standards, and manufacturing capabilities and participate in the prototype review process. You’ll work closely with the Finance and Costing functions to help manage seasonal and long term financial targets and performance reporting. You'll complete and sign-off on accurate pre-cost for new styles, plan C/O cost for correct margin reporting from start of the season through to first quote deadline; and project cost and margin implications of strategic initiatives and product innovation. You'll solve complex problems and take a new perspective on existing solutions. You'll interpret customer needs, assess requirements and identify solutions to non-standard requests. In addition, you'll be accountable for small projects or programs with manageable risks and resource requirements.

Requirements for the position include:
• Bachelor's degree with a focus in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Development, Business Management/Administration, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in financial or management reporting, industry experience, including manufacturing, sourcing, and/or costing
• Knowledge of construction, materials, process and product integrity
• Demonstrated ability to provide proactive consultation to internal customers requiring financial interpretation
• Knowledge of footwear sourcing, processes, and events from product concept to delivery
• Thorough understanding of accounting concepts and automated systems that support the process
• Strong problem solving, research and resolution
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain a high level of integrity, remain flexible, be results-oriented and work within a team
• Team leader experience and work comfortably in environment of ambiguity
• Advanced proficiency using MS Excel and intermediate proficiency skills with MS Access and PowerPoint
