Counterparty Risk Manager covering Bank Portfolios

SUMMARY

The Financial Institutions Credit Officer is responsible for oversight of the credit risk that emanates from banks, insurance companies, investment banks, and broker-dealers within the firm’s investment portfolios or arising from counterparty trading activities. You will be responsible for ensuring the adequacy of risk framework, infrastructure and monitoring and approval of credit risks in North and South America.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Specifications:
• Conduct comprehensive credit analysis of individual financial institutions as well as country-based financial system reviews incorporating financial statement review, risk framework and appetite, market and competitive dynamics, governmental oversight and regulatory framework, and macroeconomic environment.
• Assign, review, and approve internal credit ratings
• Approve financial institutions credit limits spanning multiple products including investments, counterparty credit, deposits, letters of credit, and repurchase agreements
• Evaluate and approve certain complex counterparty credit risks arising from derivatives trading activity
• Develop appropriate risk infrastructure and processes to measure, evaluate, monitor, and control credit risk risks inherent in a broad array of credit products
• Prepare written credit risk analysis for senior management
• Establish and maintain relationships among front office business partners across all product lines
• Participate in development of credit risk analytics appropriate for different product types including economic capital, potential future exposure, credit valuation adjustment

• 5 to 10 years in a Credit Risk department of a financial institution covering banks, broker-dealers, finance companies, insurance companies, and funds
• Ability to conduct independent credit review of financial institutions and financial systems
• Experience in counterparty credit risk management, evaluation and structuring of counterparty documentation including ISDA and PSA
• Knowledge of and experience with Fixed Income products across bonds and loans
• Good working knowledge of the regulatory regimes and practices in major international capital markets
• High degree of credit analysis, underwriting, and due diligence skills
• Strong track record of sound decision making and use of delegated credit authority
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• CFA or MBA in finance or similar degree preferred
