Credit Analyst, Industry Investment Research

Position Purpose:
Responsibility for covering certain industries as a financial and credit analyst, serving as the firm’s internal expert on those assigned industries.
Essential Functions:
• Identify and analyze potential investment opportunities within assigned industry focus and make recommendations to buy or sell credits
• Maintain level of knowledge on current/evolving industry trends and monitor primary and secondary credit market activity.
• Overall responsibility for presenting written analysis on individual credits including but not limited to; business outlook, industry dynamics, company management, deal sponsor, capital structure, key credit agreement terms, collateral profile, cash flow projections/sensitivity analysis and any other supporting reasons for recommendation
• Monitor assigned respective credits
• Oversight of junior analysts in the preparation of; approval memos, updating financial information, financial projections and assisting with ongoing credit reviews
• Network and work actively with sell side/third party research professionals focusing on relative value
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Oversight of junior analyst work activities
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field of study
• A minimum of 12 years experience in leveraged loans and/or credit analysis focusing on assigned industry(ies)
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret business and technical materials, financial reports and/or legal documents
• Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to senior management
• Ability to organize effective written communication, adapted to various audience styles
• Demonstrated understanding of financial and credit ratios, and percent and ability to interpret financial charts
• Demonstrated understanding of GAAP principles
