Credit Analyst – Pharmaceutical Sector

Working in Fitch’s EMEA Corporate Finance Group, the candidate will take analytical responsibility either as principal or supervisory analyst for a portfolio of primarily tobacco and pharmaceutical credits with a focus on Western Europe. He/She will present and discuss his/her recommendations to a rating committee and will also be responsible for writing research reports and presenting Fitch’s opinions in an insightful manner to external parties. Additional analytical focus will comprise sector-wide research as well as ad-hoc commentaries.

The role will also involve presentation of the analytical product to issuers, investors, the media and bankers and entail some travel. The candidate is expected to keep up-to-date with market/industry developments and to proactively manage the rating process of issuers in his/her portfolio to provide timely and insightful opinions to investors.

The exact portfolio assumed is expected to grow over time in line with future mandates encompassing, albeit not limited to, other healthcare names. The portfolio may include both Speculative Grade and Investment Grade issuers and could involve collaboration with other groups at Fitch including, but not limited to, the Leveraged Finance Team.

This position is available in London. Alternatively, we will consider it if the candidate is based on or looking to move to Paris or any other major European city where Fitch has an office. In this case, an initial introductory period of work (1-2 months) in the London office is envisaged to aid in training and integration. This period will be tailored according to the candidate’s experience background and training needs.

Candidates should have:

•Strong financial analysis skills, including forward-looking cash flow modelling, preferably from a credit or fixed income background
•At least 5 years proven work experience, prior knowledge of the pharmaceutical sector is required. Knowledge of the tobacco industry is a plus but not needed
•Self-starter with an ability to work independently
•Strong written and verbal communications skills
•Other EU languages are desirable
