Credit Analyst/Junior Portfolio Manager, CIMB-Principal Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd recruitment
1. Research
Coordinate credit research produced by analysts from PGI and CIMB-Principal Asset Management (CPAM) and conduct primary research on assigned sovereign and corporate credits not covered by either. Maintain expert knowledge of relative value within and across assigned coverage universe. Make buy, sell and hold recommendations to assist in meeting client investment needs. Present recommendations in oral and written form to Portfolio Manager and follow PGI's Investment Process. Obtain credit approvals from PGI or CPAM as required. Proactively pursue developments and opportunities for new products, clients and investment structures and/or types; recommend creative ideas and solutions as appropriate.
2. Portfolio Monitoring
Maintain credit rating, outlook and relative value assessments of all current holdings within assigned industries. Ensure this information is kept current at all times and proactively inform CIO and Portfolio Manager of significant developments within assigned coverage universe providing BUY/SELL/HOLD recommendations as appropriate.
3. Sovereign/Industry Knowledge and Other Contacts
Maintain expert knowledge on assigned coverage universe. Keep abreast of general economic and financial market trends. Proactively develop, foster and maintain positive relationships with a wide network of analysts and other industry contacts to ensure constant flow of up-to-the minute information. Develop and maintain relationships with other credit analysts within PGI and CPAM.
4. Projects
Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required.
Requirements:
- Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting graduate preferred
- MBA/CFA designation a bonus
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- Relevant analytical experience in Asian fixed income/sukuk is crucial (exposure to GCC would be an advantage)
- A high degree of integrity and ability to actively cooperate and interact with other members of the investment team and shareholders
- PC proficiency with strong Excel skills required
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to operate effectively with a very high level of autonomy and self-direction is a must
- Success in this position requires the ability to make effective, well-informed decisions and recommendations in a highly time-sensitive environment, often with incomplete and/or contradictory information
- Must have a high level of self-initiative and be comfortable taking educated risks
