An exciting job opportunity has become available working as a Credit controller within the busy finance team within the NHS authority. Starting asap, this position is exclusive to Hays and we envisage a great response to this post.

The job role is outlined below and is a guide as to what is expected for the successful applicant:

To collect outstanding debts and ensure that cash is received in line with pre-determined cash collection targets and banked in line with the Trust’s Financial Procedures. To ensure that overdue debt figures are maintained and/or reduced in accordance with corporate objectives. To make decisions regarding cases which should be forwarded to debt collection agencies and recommend write-offs to the Credit Manager, with a logical explanation of the decision, after all avenues of collection have been exhausted.

To promptly and accurately issue any invoices and credit notes for NHS and NON – NHS customers, in line with the Trust’s Financial Procedures.

To improve awareness of other Trust staff with regards to outstanding debt and the importance of producing correct and well documented invoices. To regularly clear unallocated cash and ensure that this is kept to a minimum. Resolution of all queries raised by customers with defined Service Level Agreements.

The Trust has a total income of approx £350m p.a. Of this approx. £20m p.a. across approximately 2,500 invoices is divisional income billed to a very wide range of customers, including other NHS bodies, solicitors, private patients and overseas patients. Invoices are raised by a number of departments within the Trust and the post holder will need to communicate with all of these areas.

The post holder will also be responsible for providing advice to Trust staff, in relation to debt management and on occasions may have to deputise for the overseas visitors’ officer.
