TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Background
This position is based in London, U.K. and is part of the Credit Risk department that includes approximately 20 analysts.  The Credit Risk department is formed of four counterparty teams (Hedge Funds, Financial Institutions, Corporates, and Professional Trading Groups).  Close communication will be required with team members, although the role will be aligned with a specific counterparty type, as well as Market Risk team, UK Head of Credit, other control functions, and respective sales desks.

Newedge's global presence gives its customers access to more than 500 financial derivatives contracts (interest rates, indices, equities) and over 220 commodities derivatives contracts (grain, cocoa, coffee, sugar, energy, cotton). In addition to its brokerage services on organised derivative and stock exchanges, Newedge has developed a range of brokerage services for OTC products and Foreign Exchange, as well as a one-stop service that helps its clients to optimise the management of their financial transactions.

Responsibilities
Role will be to assist the UK Head of Credit with coordination of credit limit Control Reports, Management Information collection and presentation preparation, and various Risk projects.  There will also be scope to actively support the various credit teams (Hedge Funds, FI, Corporates, and PTG).  

Major responsibilities include:

• Exposure Management: coordinating Credit Control reports.  Liaising with the Credit Analysts, Market Risk and Portfolio Management Analyst, and Management to ensure that clients keep within their Credit limits.   Provide analysis, explanations, and action points to protect Newedge against counterparty default.    

• Assisting in the gathering of management information and preparation of the monthly Risk Management Committee presentation. 

• Assisting in various Credit risk related projects, i.e. User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new risk systems.    

• Performing data analysis on counterparties as part of the onboarding and renewal process.   

• Assist with due diligence either by phone, at Newedge offices or at client premises to better understand the client's business and add value to the risk assessment conducted by Newedge.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

Experience
Work experience within the Finance Industry would be beneficial, although not mandatory.

The candidate will need strong analytical and quantitative skills that lead to effective decision-making.  Good communication skills are a pre-requisite, both written and verbal.

Understanding of credit management principles and concepts is very important.  Ability to assess financial statements will be essential.

The candidate will need to be results oriented with the ability to adapt to changing business strategies in a dynamic and fast paced industry.  As the environment is fast paced and the workload can be large, it is necessary to be able to take direction but also work independently.

Systems
Technical/Systems knowledge: To have a strong working knowledge of
• MS Excel (advance Pivot tables, VB/macro skills)
• MS Word
• Powerpoint
• MS Access

Personal Skills
• Excellent communicator - role requires interaction with IT, sales, trading, senior management, credit, compliance, external vendors and clients. 
• Project management skills.  Ability to take responsibility for a project and see through to completion.
• Time management.  Balancing daily duties with general responsibilities can be a challenge.
• Team player: effective worker in a team with a flexible attitude in helping colleagues if required.
• Languages: Fluent English essential.
• Flexible attitude: To accommodate workflows and priorities.
• Strong organisational planning skills
• Ability to speak with impact to middle and senior management. (Presentation skills)
• University degree in finance, maths, accounting, or economics
