Position Summary:
Our client is a rapidly-growing, well-funded, New York based start-up University Community site and has turned to Sound Advice to help them identify, qualify and present an individual for the critical position as CTO with expert Drupal developing skills.
Experience:
This is truly a one of a kind start-up opportunity. As Chief Technology Officer (CTO) / Drupal Developer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying the United States first social University Community site. This includes the interactive website and the mobile site. You should be able to work on everything from rich front-end interactions with Javascript, HTML, and CSS to potentially the low-level payment processing infrastructure. Having worked in a fast paced start-up environment is highly preferred. Having built a high availability site (for millions of users) is ideal. Designing and building high scale systems, debugging and fixing performance issues, and ensuring the daily function of all site operations are all part of your responsibilities.
Requirements:
· 5+ years Drupal or PHP development experience, with a strong focus on custom module development
· 3+ years of experience with Web content management and Web publishing applications
· 3+ years Java development experience, and 3+ years web application development experience, including solid experience with Java, as well as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
· Analytical problem solving skills
· Extensive high-performance Web application development and scaling web services experience
· SQL experience
· Interact directly with founders to best develop and meet technical specifications, best practices, strategic architectural development and business needs
· C/C++ experience
· Open source contributions
· TDD experience
· Experience building web APIs for mobile apps
· Strong understanding of LAMP and Networking
· In-depth experience in JQuery and/or ExtJS a plus
· Experience with Agile development practices a plus

Education:
B.S. Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred.
