CTO – Logistics or Manufacturing recruitment

The role is situated within the executive account team, working closely to the client to enable regular contact.

The CTO will be the prime coordination point for the ongoing creation and governance of technology roadmaps for the client. The breadth and complexity of the opportunity differentiates these deals requiring a full time orchestration of the firm’s capability across all technology hubs.  The chosen candidate will have end to end ownership of the network technology strategy evolution process.

The breadth and blended commercial/technical nature of the role combined with the high visibility nature of the role requires senior players able to operate confidently at the most senior levels within the account, and have proven experience doing so.

Key Responsibilities:

• The prime focus will be on bridging into the business challenges of the target account and translating the requirements into opportunities.

• Maintain ongoing direct relations with the client business managers and provide a prime contact reference point for other technology teams to direct/support their engagement.

• Working as an integral part of the account structure and owning the technology roadmap for the client.

• Act as a primary business and technology consultant

• Identify transformational opportunities leveraging global best practice from other accounts/programs 

• Engage specialist expertise for consultation on complex business issues

• Provide a high level Design Authority/Governance sign off acting on behalf of the client for material changes to solutions or services (note: respecting normal design authority processes as required)

• To provide general governance to the design process and specifically sign off for innovation projects

• To be accountable for definition and delivery of a broad spectrum of technology strategy and solutions to achieve the clients’ business objectives and benefits realization.

• To enable incremental revenue or cost reduction targets through analysis of high level projects across a broad range of networks/technologies/systems,

• To leverage in-depth knowledge of the clients business area to generate specific business solutions and/or contribute to new market propositions. sand industry.

• To be responsible for maintaining oversight of key technology transformation programmes for the client, monitoring performance against business objectives, scorecard and responding and recommending actions to trends and taking executive action.

• To build internal, external and third party supplier relationships to ensure full commitment and support.

• Drive change and innovation through a strategic understanding of the client market and business challenges

• Use technology roadmaps to enhance the value delivered by the firm to the client

• Budget responsibility - varies by account and subject to Operating model.

• Will be the lead or highly respected decision maker/advisor.

Requirements for the ideal CTO:

• Relevant industry recognised qualifications where appropriate.

• Ability to capture high level strategic, commercial, and technical across client business units or groups.

• Hands on experience being a senior level technology manager in Logistics or Manufacturing.

• Director/VP/CIO/CTO level expertise  

• Strong business consultant style inter personal skills

• Excellent communication skills to multiple audiences, business and technical, including public speaking

• Able to get things done through negotiation and tact as well as more forceful approaches when required

• Able to develop insight through a knowledge of vendor strategies for specific sectors, regions, industry technology norms, industry gossip etc

• Strategic thinking and willingness to challenge established norms

• Tenacious and robust personality

• Competent on a wide range of current and emerging technologies

• High level of business acumen and commercial experience.

• Ideally degree qualified in engineering, computing or equivalent science discipline.

• Ideally relevant professional experience in the client sector and willingness to learn.
