Custody Nurses

I am recruiting for RGN and RMN nurses needed to work as Police Custody Nurses across the Yorkshire region. Ideally you will have experience working in this field and already have police clearance, but I am also willing to consider nurses who are interested in this type of work.

The primary aim of these services is to provide healthcare that ensures the safety of detainees in custody, guaranteeing their fitness to be detained, to be interviewed and to attend court. Healthcare services include conducting clinical assessments, identifying and implementing appropriate interventions, collecting forensic samples and providing advice and guidance to Custody staff regarding the care of the detainee whilst in Police Custody. The post holder will be responsible for their own caseload within their speciality area as an autonomous practitioner. In doing so, they will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient centred programmes of care to a specialist level ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge.

Tasks include: assessing and treating injuries, assessment of drug and alcohol use, collection of samples, assessing mental health, assessing needs around long term conditions, helping with medication and referring onwards to other services. Perpetrators of crime are not typical users of mainstream health services and so may not already be in touch with the services that they need.

Please contact Zjak on 0113 2003 705. Alternatively you can apply for this role by sending me your up to date CV.
