Data Analyst, Structured Finance

 

 

Fitch's European Structured Finance and Covered Bond teams maintain existing ratings and assigns ratings to new structured finance transactions and Covered Bond programs. Fitch currently rates structured finance transactions across four main asset classes: Asset Backed Securities (ABS), Residential Mortgage Backed Securities (RMBS), Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS) and Structured Credit (SC). It also rates public sector and mortgage Covered Bonds.

In addition to the London office, the European Structured Finance and Covered Bond teams are supported with offices in Paris, Frankfurt, Madrid and Milan among other cities.

 

Job Description:

The successful candidate will provide support to the team of analysts rating all types of Spanish and Portuguese structured finance products mainly RMBS, ABS and SME loans securitisations, and also Spanish standalone and multi-issuer mortgage covered bonds. The candidate will be actively involved in the creation of data warehouses that permit the analytical team to have up-to-date data metrics across all transactions and covered bond issuers in order to produce instant peer review comparisons, sector trend analysis or sensitivity runs.

One specific project which will be assigned to the candidate is the consolidation of all the historical mortgage cover pool data of all Spanish banks into a single repository, which will be presented and delivered to our EU Data Team based in London with the ultimate aim of migrating all the data from Madrid systems into Head Quarters in London or New York.

The role encompasses:

• Sourcing data from external providers and internal databases

• Running data validation procedures, in particular with respect to Spanish mortgage cover pools which we receive on a monthly and quarterly basis

• Consolidating data into our existing centralised tools

• Configuration of peer review and sector trend analysis which can then be taken on board by rating analysts

• Coordinating with the EU Data Team the migration of all our historical data tapes into the company databases.

Person Specification:

This is a demanding and exciting role so we are looking for highly motivated candidates. Candidates will be highly numerate and analytical, with advanced Excel skills.

It would be beneficial if candidates demonstrate familiarity with the financial markets, preferably with fixed income instruments including structured finance and covered bond products.
