Data Architect

Job Description: Serves as the lead technical resource in the strategic oversight and planning of data models and database structural design and development. Oversees the strategic structural design and development of databases and metadata. Develops Agency data and metadata policies and procedures for structural design and development to build, maintain and leverage the data model, ensuring integration with corporate data standards. Plans new designs for integration into the CIA database structure, using knowledge of the characteristics of the systems being added to the structure and the specifications for database interfaces to ensure effective integration and optimal database performance. Provides extensive technical, strategic advice and guidance of the highest level to senior managers and technical resources in the creation and implementation of new data standards and databases. Required Skills: Clearance required: Active Top Secret / SCI w Polygraph. Demonstrated strong analytic / problem - solving skills I complex computing environments 8 years experience with relational database modeling and /or Object-Oriented design techniques including Unified Modeling Language (UML) 3+ years of experience with XML Schema design, validation, tools HTML/XHTML Desired Skills: 2 Years experience in JAVA/J2EE and JavaScript. Demonstrated ability to explain technical issues clearly and accurately to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience with Agile development techniques. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Experience with relational database products such as Oracle and MySQL. Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) technologies. Experience with other programming languages such as Ruby, Python, Lisp or C/C++. Familiarity with Intelligence Community data standards such as PUBS.XML, IRM.XML, and ISM.XML. Familiarity with open source products and tools. Familiarity with object-oriented design principles and UML modeling techniques. Advanced degree a plus. Education and Experience: BS/BA degree required in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or related field. Must have 8 years relevant experience.
