Data Operations Manager, Asset Management

We are looking for a proactive data specialist to lead a team, and continue to build-out the capability for data quality management across multiple data categories such as clients, products and securities in our New York office for Asset Management. The successful candidate must have strong problem solving skills with experience in maintaining and integrating data, defining operational processes, and partnering across departments. 

 

An ideal candidate is someone who has previous experience in financial data operations or at a financial market data provider. Asset Management, Security Master Operations and/or IT experience is a plus.

 

Responsibilities:

·      Define and centrally own operational processes and procedures to manage and maintain data used for reporting and analytics across the Asset Management division.

·      Manage onshore team members whose main responsibilities include monitoring source data feeds, reviewing exception reports, creating canned and ad-hoc reports for internal clients, and responding to client inquiries.

·      Assist in the creation and implementation of an offshoring plan.

·      Collaborate with IT to implement and/or enhance tools and applications to support the data operations processes.

·      Define and implement data quality controls, workflows, and problem escalation and correction procedures.

·      Monitor alerts and reports, research discrepancies, resolve exceptions, and review and sign-off on data accuracy and completeness.

·      Partner with Risk, Portfolio Teams, Distribution and Product Strategy to determine additional data needs, respond to ad-hoc requests and resolve exceptions.

·      Drive data quality by continuously identifying areas for process and systems improvement, and providing solution recommendations.

·      Assist in data management projects by providing subject matter expertise and participating in user acceptance testing.

·      Manage relationships with internal stakeholders. Present to senior management.

 

·      5 - 10 years of experience, with experience in managing financial data – data on-boarding, data quality management, rules and alerts configuration, exception resolution etc.

·      Proven capability to manage and influence cross-functional teams.

·      Advanced data analysis skills using Excel and reporting tools to import, analyze and report on data.

·      Good understanding of data structures.

·      Hands-on with the ability to both do and manage (but with a focus on managing, driving and coordinating).

·      Analytical and structured thinking, with a keen interest in how things work.

·      Ability to synthesize the information and present to senior business leaders.

·      Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer service orientation.

·      Self-motivated and able to work under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.

·      Bachelor's Degree required.

 

Preferred:

• Asset Management experience with an understanding of Asset Management products and operational processes.

• Prior experience in developing data quality management capability through IT or vendor tools

• Basic database skills and the ability to write basic SQL statements for data investigation.

• Basic understanding of IT concepts including FTP and batch file processing.
