Summary
This professional will be responsible for Tier 2 and 3 support for Production issues and Helpdesk tickets, as well as, the deployment of Production and QA database releases in support of application development efforts. This role will ensure that customer service system availability targets and service level agreements are established and met.
Responsibilities
*Serve as part of the Database Support Team in developing and implementing next generation database systems architecture
*Provide 2nd tier, 24x7 production support including but not limited to the release of development projects and migration of database related changes
*Provide daily administration and performance monitoring of Database related systems
*Implement and support Database Business Continuity practices including high availability and disaster recovery
*Develop system administration standards and procedures to maintain consistent practices
*Support the backup and recovery strategy for the Database environment
*Aid in the support/writing of DTS packages, Perl, VBS, and batch scripts written to both monitor and maintain the database and support applications
*Provide, assist and participate in the creative process in improving architectural designs and the implementation of new architecture to consistently improve our Database Enterprise for optimal efficiency and cost effectiveness
*Provide support of production related data, including data maintenance
*Monitor and proactively support capacity planning and analysis
*Install and configure new database systems
*Tune stored procedures, functions, and packages to support needs of Developers
*Provide programming guidance and architectural support for applications and developers to support ongoing Development Projects
*Assist in the design, development, and support of relational and non-relational database designs and their physical generation in a team-oriented environment using data modeling tools
Qualifications
*Four-year degree in related discipline with 5+ years experience in systems development
*Minimum of 3+ Years of working with SQL Server Databases in an administrative and development support role
*Work with database servers should consist of at least 80 of the candidates responsibilities
*Service performance relative to service requests and customer satisfaction
*Technical training on Windows platform design and support
*Strong knowledge of Database Installation, setup, creation, tuning and maintenance processes
*Knowledge of SQL development and SQL tuning
*Technical knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server backup and recovery techniques
*Knowledge of Database Disaster Recovery and High Availability techniques and implementations
*Technical knowledge of DTS and scripting languages such as visual basic, java, Perl and/or batch used in support of database administration
*Technical knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server including Data Center Cluster technology and Microsoft SQL Server replication technology
