Database Administrator
This individual is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software. The ability to create and maintain business-level and technical documentation is imperative for the job. The individual should have multi-site, enterprise-class database administration experience. This individual should expect to develop and maintain regular program status reporting procedures, and adhere to IT operation, documentation, compliance requirements, and established policies and procedures.
Reporting: This position will report directly to AMG’s Vice President of Information Technology. The individual in this position will work closely with the Systems, Development, Project Management Office, and Affiliate support groups on IT initiatives.
This position will be located at AMG in our Prides Crossing location.
Primary Responsibilities:
Strategy Planning
- Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers.
- Work with application development staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
Acquisition Deployment
- Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
Operational Management
- Create models for new database development and/or changes to existing ones.
- Install and configure relevant network components to ensure database access as well as database consistency and integrity.
- Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
- Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
- Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for database systems.
- Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
- Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.
- Create, or support creation of, required reports in response to business user needs.
- Perform database transaction and security audits.
- Maintain appropriate end-user database access control levels.
- Manage the code promotion and change management processes across business systems environments (e.g. DEV to QA to PROD).
- Perform release management for SAP BPC for Microsoft application.
- Design and manage data quality policies and processes.
Requirements and Skills:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5+ years of progressive responsibility in an enterprise-class, multi-site environment.
- Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Current MCDBA certification with and extensive experience designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Knowledge and expertise using Microsoft Analysis Services.
- Knowledge and experience implementing Master Data Management technologies.
- Experience with data flowcharting techniques.
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws, including Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Knowledge and experience with enterprise business applications such as ERP, CRM, and BI systems.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication, research, analytic, project management, documentation and grammatical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team oriented, fast-paced environment.
