Database Administrator with a strong background in various database technologies who has a proven record of supporting large systems and “big data. Seeking a rockstar data geek who loves working with all different types of databases with a deep understanding of traditional relational database engines such as MS-SQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL with at least two years production experience working with non-relational data systems such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase or equivalent.

Technical Responsibilities

Create and implement database requirements and storage models Maximize data insertion and retrieval performance
Design and development database architectures Implement and maintain formal backup and recovery solutions
Ensure data security and privacy across all database installations and platforms
Establish database monitoring procedures to evaluate data usage and performance Investigate and use cutting-edge technologies
Work directly with CEO, CTO, and President on all future data projects
Work directly with business intelligence team to create and support critical analytics applications that rely on big data
Facilitate communication about our data systems throughout the company
Communicate project status and escalate issues
Manage time effectively, meet project deadlines, and work independently

Technical Requirements

5+ years of administration experience with open-source database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or equivalent
5+ years working with database systems deployed on Linux
3+ years managing database systems in a cloud solution (Amazon Web Services, Rackspace, etc)
3+ years working with MS-SQL
3+ years managing highly available, mission critical databases
3+ years in open-source database clustering and replication
2+ years working with “Big Data” systems (terabyte+)
2+ years with HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB, Vertica or equivalent
Linux server administration a plus
